What we do

Our mission is to empower and connect local organizations

to promote improvement for the whole community and take a unified approach to community development.

The organizations work in the following key areas:

Education: Child Development

Education: English Teaching

Community Development

Healthcare and Medicine

Media and Communications

Youth Empowerment

Some of our current projects

Education: Child Development

Kindergartens

Currently, we work with 6 kindergartens: 3 of them located in the city of Buenos Aires and the other 3 in the surrounding suburbs. All of them are run by locals who guarantee a place where kids, from babies to 5 year olds, can go to learn, play and have a healthy lunch.

Education: Child Development

Children Homes

We also work along two children homes in Buenos Aires that serve the same purpose as the kindergartens but around the clock.

Depending on each situation, the volunteers are expected to help out at mealtimes, plan and run their own activities and generally be attentive to the children’s needs. Particularly in these homes, Spanish-speaking volunteers are often most appreciated during homework hour, when the children might not otherwise be motivated to study.

Education: Child Development

Summer education project

During the Summer Break in Argentina, children are out of school. So a place where they can go to practice recreational activities is always pleasant and also a huge help for parents who have to work. The summer eduction project opens during the months of January and February and provides a place where kids and teenagers are safe.

Education: English Teaching

Assistant at English School

Learning English is increasingly central to widening one’s future prospects, and as an organisation whose intake is primarily international, we can play a key role. Our volunteers may teach in one of the two after-school institutes located in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, or even in a local primary school. They both prepare and deliver classes whilst engaging with their pupils on a personal level and one of the main goals is to give them more tools to have better job opportunities.

Community Development

Volunteering at the Soup Kitchen

We work closely with community centres across the southern suburbs of Buenos Aires because we believe that change must come from within the communities themselves. At the present time, we work with two soup kitchen that cook both for the community and for the kindergartens located in the same center. The soup kitchens feed up to 400 families every day.

Healthcare and Medicine

Health Internship in Public Hospital

The role of the volunteer in the hospital will depend on their commitment and interests, however, their role will always be primarily about observation. Volunteers will learn how the hospital works, and how different doctors and areas work as well. For this reason, there is no unique role, it’s built with each volunteer. According to the motivation and how long volunteers stay, the possibility of taking part in different activities will be available.

Healthcare and Medicine

Health promotion & prevention center

Volunteer's tasks will depend on their commitment and interests, anyway, volunteers will start as spectators so they can learn how the health center and the professionals work. All areas, activities, and workshops are open to the volunteer who can participate both in the activities inside the center and those carried out in the field according to their interests. Moreover, volunteers learn a lot about the Argentine Health System, how to work in a team different from what you learn in universities, you can share your own knowledge as well as learn a lot from the people you share your experience with.

Healthcare and Medicine

The Psychology internship

Volunteers in the Psychology project are not able to interact with the patients directly, but they become part of a multi-disciplinary team, making visits to homes in the neighbourhood as well as helping to run workshops for children and their parents.

Media and Communications

Communications Assistant at Voluntario Global

· Production of video content and images on the work of the organization.
· Update and maintain the organization of the Youtube channel and create strategies for means of promotion.
· Interview the volunteers for making videos about their stories
· Edit photos and videos with subtitles in English

Media and Communications

Assistant at Community Radio Station

The radio operates from Monday through Saturday, broadcasting one or two programs per day, with music playing the rest of the time. They try to take into account the cultural wealth of the area and the mix between the communities that come from many different parts of Latin America. They are still working on improving it and are constantly learning new things about how to best run it. Because of this, the main role of the volunteers that work here will be to help them with the most technical parts, such as the operation. However, volunteers will also be able to organize new programs to add to the roster. Volunteers will also help with social communication by going to the neighborhoods to interview local inhabitants and thinking about how to best manage social handles and develop advertising strategies for the radio.

Media and Communications

Community Radio Broadcasting

Volunteers can help us with a variety of things, including gathering materials about our programs from foreign sources and translating them to Spanish for us, help during live broadcasting, they can even propose and write a weekly column. How the volunteer can help depends on how long they are in Buenos Aires and their level of Spanish. Volunteers who have knowledge of the operating system of a radio station can also help with that or will also be able to organize new programs to add to the roster. Volunteers can help with social communication by visiting the neighborhoods and interviewing local inhabitants and thinking about how to best manage social handles and develop advertising strategies for the radio.

Voluntario Global is a non-profit organization (NGO) registered in Buenos Aires, Argentina under number 0000 515. We do not receive financial assistance from the Government, nor corporations. Therefore, our funds come directly from the volunteers who register in our programs. Donations are spent according to community needs under the strict supervision of our local coordinators.

Thanks to the volunteer’s donations, we have been able to begin operating a Social Savings Fund. This has allowed to finance computers, books, and many necessary supplies to go on and grow our Network. In addition, we have also financed a home construction loan for a family that lives in Villa Soldati, the construction of a kindergarten in Barracas, in 2010, the opening of the Laundry Project in 2008, and the Pacheco Community Project, in 2014.

If you would like to make a donation or receive further information about this Fund, please contact our Founder, Valeria Gracia, at valeria@voluntarioglobal.org

Yes, we have partnered with Fund My Travel so all volunteers can create a campaign and get funds to volunteer with us in Argentina.
